We have had two very busy weekends in a row when it seems that lots of our activities cross-over each other. The week-end before last we had Netball games scheduled as well as a basketball tournament at Kingston for Brady. Because of the bad weather Netball was cancelled so we were lucky enough to be able to watch both of Brady's games when we had previously thought we wouldn't be able to. On Sunday Kieran had football, Brady had basketball and the three girls had a dress rehearsal for their dance concert being held the next week-end. Jordan worked on Sunday so we weren't all finally in the one place at the one time until about 8.30 p.m on Sunday night.
There is something so wrong about putting mascara, eyeliner and bright red lipstick on a child but on stage it looks fine!Last weekend we had two games of Netball on Saturday - both at the same time. Luckily they were on courts right next to each other. Gabby's team had a good win against a very physical side (I think they thought they were playing footy) to remain undefeated while Hannah's team had a much tougher task when they came up against the Division 1 ladder leaders Karana Firebolts who were a much bigger and more experienced team.
When we got home we had house cleaning and grocery shopping to do and we then had a visit from the Bartels family - well Nigel, Tamara and Molly. Jack was at a Fusion activity and Tom was at a friend's sleepover. Tamara and I took the children (minus Kieran who decided to stay home where it was warm because of his asthma) to the fireworks at Franklin. It was freezing by the river but the kids loved the fireworks and Jorgia was absolutely transfixed by them.
Sunday was a full day of dancing for the girls. Gabrielle left the house at about 9.30 because some of her younger students had solos in the first concert. She had woken up with no voice so was really disappointed as she had planned to perform her song and dance solo which she has been practising for six months. We raced around and got Hannah and Jorgia ready and headed up to Hobart College to the theatre where the dancing was being held. Hannah did a great job in her group and she had heaps of energy and a great smile in the front row. Jorgia's group were cute and remembered most of their routine. After the first concert I took the two girls down to Kingston where Kieran had been playing football and Brooke took them home while I headed back to Hobart College for the second concert.
Gabrielle had three group dances (jazz, neo-classical and kick) and then had to decide whether to pull out of the solo section or to perform her jazz solo which she wasn't that keen on. In the end she decided to do it and she did a great job - heaps of energy! Needless to say we were pretty happy to see the theatre in the rearview mirror and finally got home around 7.00 p.m. Hopefully next weekend won't be quite as busy and Kieran might get some photos taken of his footy!!
